Fitness in our Lives
Fitness is a main component of my day-to-day life. It keeps me out of trouble and keeps me healthy. Fitness doesn’t only include working out. It includes physical exercise, eating healthy and taking care of your body. Fitness can give you many benefits throughout your life. It teaches you hard work with discipline and dedication, which is carried over to every day life.
Our country is overwhelmed with obesity, diabetes, and many other preventable conditions and diseases due to lack of exercise and poor nutrition. There are millions of ways to prevent these issues but only one way to get them, not taking care of your body. Some basic ways to prevent these issues are eating less sweets and junk food, taking your dog for a walk, or even just parking farther away from your house to get a little more cardio in. I take decent care of my body, I run often, work out just about every day and always eat nutritious foods.
To be physically fit, you need to work hard. If you’re lazy you can’t be in good shape due to the lack of work your body is getting. You need to be determined to lose weight and gain muscle. Over the summer, my dad and I got up every morning at 5:30 and worked out. We have a miniature gym in our house. Consisting of, an auto-spot bench press, cables with many attachments and free weights going up to fifty pounds. We also have a small cardio section, an elliptical, miniature trampoline, jump ropes, and weighted hoola-hoops make up that portion of the gym. My brother and I both used to box so we have a punching bag, speed bag and sparring equipment. My dad and I would rotate through these things each morning. Getting up that early to work out took a lot of hard work and determination on our part.
My mom is a Holistic Health Counselor so I’m pretty much always dieting. When I was working out more frequently, I was on food that was healthy but would help me to gain weight, like lots of protein and complex carbohydrates. I would have six meals a day and I was in the best shape I have ever been in. Most people don’t have the knowledge that I have acquired and don’t know how to properly eat or maintain a healthy diet. Lack of knowledge is one of the biggest factors contributing to obesity. Most people don’t realize how unhealthy fast food places such as McDonalds really are; and if they do, they just don’t care. I myself haven’t had McDonalds in over a year. I don’t eat fast food at all anymore. I understand that it’s fast and cheap and many people are constantly on the go, but simply preparing the night before and bringing a healthy lunch could help stop this obesity epidemic.
I intend on taking MMA classes with my brother, when wrestling season is over. This will keep my body toned and will help me with my cardiovascular endurance. Also, I intend on eating healthily for as long as possible. This will keep my body healthy and in great shape. This I believe.
